With Christmas just around the corner it’s time to start thinking about our outfits for the big day!
Whether you consider an 80s Christmas jumper an essential, or you go for Hollywood glamour in a satin wiggle dress, vintage is, of course, our number one option for this time of year. And it seems we’re not alone.
On our search for inspiration for this year’s outfit, we consulted some of our favourite bloggers and social media stars to discover what vintage gems they wore on Christmases past…
Isabella Ferretti – @RougeYourKnees
We love seeing Bella dressed up in all her finery at our fair, and her Instagram account is a visual treat of vintage style too! This graceful 1930s velvet coat dress, originally shared last December, matches her felt hat and gold and red clasp purse perfectly for a ‘Mrs Clause’ look with true class. Helen Macdonald – Wardrobe Conversations
We love Helen and Kimberley’s fun, feel-good style that they share on their blog Wardrobe Conversations and Helen’s Christmas outfit post from 2015 is another exceptionally cute example. A vintage Christmas jumper is not always easy to style but Helen has nailed it by keeping the rest of the outfit simple and finishing with some sparkly, present bow earrings. See the full outfit here.
Sara Thomas – Waiste Blog
The queen of boho, Sara Thomas showed us how to do cosy and cool in the run up to Christmas in December 2013 with this ensemble. How to make a red, second-hand fringed leather jacket festive? Throw on a shearling scarf for a fur trim. Paired with a vintage crochet cardi, it’ll be a rock ‘n’ roll Christmas. See more pictures here.
Anne Marie Gee – Catwalk School Gates
‘Tis the season to be sparkly! When Anne Marie went shopping for Christmas and New Year’s blouse ideas in 2014, this vintage silver and gold sequin top caught her eye and we can see why. Loose and floaty for comfort with a sexy off-the-shoulder detail, it’s a vintage look that looks thoroughly modern. Follow Anne Marie’s perfect mix of vintage and modern style on Instagram here.
Kariss Leigh – Shy, Strange, Manic
Let’s face it, there are not enough occasions to go full-on glamour but thankfully mid-century fashion enthusiast Kariss found it in her work’s Hollywood-themed office party last Christmas. Looking like a true starlet, she paired this vintage velvet find with a fur shrug and a classic up-do to stunning effect. See more pictures of this outfit here.
