We love seeing you wearing your Clerkenwell Vintage Fashion Fair finds on Instagram (tag us @clerkenwellvint), but yours are not the only vintage outfits we’ve been keeping our eye on.
Celebrities wowing in pre-loved ensembles is no new thing but 2016 is shaping up to be a particularly good year for vintage style inspiration. Both on and off the red carpet, they’ve been showing us how vintage works for any occasion. Here are some of our favourites of the year so far…
Kate Middleton on the cover of Vogue
Giving vintage the royal seal of approval, the Duchess of Cambridge wore a vintage hat on the cover of British Vogue’s 100th anniversary issue. Choosing to show her relaxed, country-loving side it was nice to see her in a more casual look and that hat really does finish off the look!
Fearne Cotton at the BAFTAS
This dress was a bit Marmite with the press but it gets a big thumbs up from us! Not only is it vintage but the colour looks great on her and she came across as radiant and charming, qualities that are often missing from the red carpet.
Livia Firth in Cannes
Helping to promote the ethical credentials of vintage clothing, Livia Firth wore this sweet little 1960s number to a party thrown by her sustainable fashion company Eco Age in Cannes. The dress used to belong to her mother.
Olivia Wilde shares her maternity style on Instagram
Another celebrity who has spoken openly about her love for vintage as both an original style choice and a more sustainable way to shop is Olivia Wilde. Sharing this sunshine yellow dress on Instagram she also showed how great vintage can look as maternity wear. Positively glowing!
Amal Clooney at the Hail, Caesar! premier
Our favourite vintage red carpet moment of the year so far has to be Amal Clooney in this sparkling Yves Saint Laurent evening gown. The sheer overlay takes this dress to the next level of Hollywood glamour.
